Flying is magic. Planes transport us miraculously and swiftly to the exotic and the distant. Learn how to fold a paper aeroplane and use this symbol of escape to create a dart of intention!
Flying gives us a bird’s eye view of the world, with time to think from a perspective above the clouds, where the sky is always blue…
The MapLove e-course is now ready for check in – our bookart journey through maps starts on 16th August.

You’ll need:
- Rectangles of ephemera
- Something to write with
- Perhaps a bone folder
Step-by-step:

Write a response to this question at one end of your rectangle of paper:
Where do you want to go?
A destination? A state of being? A climate? A gathering? Back in time?
Keep it short – one word will do perfectly.
Then start folding:

Fold the rectangle in half length ways, with the pattern facing in, if there’s only marking on one side.

Fold the top left corner down to meet the centre crease.

Repeat with the top right hand corner.

Draw the top point down…

…so that it folds flat like this.

Flip the whole thing over.

And fold the top left corner down to meet the centre.

And the top right hand corner too!

Then open up those last two folds again.

So that you can add this crease.

Same on the other side.

Then fold those new folds inside, as above.

Now crease the centre line like this.

Mmm looking more like a plane now!

Fold down the wing at an aeronautical angle (whatever that is…may have to test and report back.)

And repeat on the other side.

Ready for lift off.

Queue them up.

And send these beauties to manifest your words.

Ooooooo, lovely. Raring to go. Might have to make a plane mobile.
Live in hope of affording one of the courses. One will persist!
Brilliant! Oh yes, a mobile – great idea. Please send pics X
