Bookbinding
Gathering at 10am, and once we’re settled into our studio, paper folding will begin. Then you’ll sew a simple sketchbook journal, for keeping your thoughts together.
Through the meditative process of dividing a sheet into sections, marking, pricking and sewing, you’ll bind a practice structure this morning.
Our chef will deliver soup and baking to fuel the making.
After lunch, a visit to a specialist stationery company for an ink-sampling opportunity and a peek into an amazing library.
Friday 4th September
Welcome
Meet Rachel for pre-dinner drinks in our Stockbridge studio, at 6pm, for an hour.
We’ll get acquainted, discuss schedules & supplies, and prepare for our weekend of book-loving.

Sunday 6th September
Printing
Meet at the studio for a 9:30 start! A full morning of learning how to use a tabletop Adana printing press. Prepare a simple printing project by setting a line of your writing, letter by letter, space by space. Once it has registered to print consistently, you’ll make a short run of prints.
Lunch break treats.
An afternoon composing, arranging, writing and sketching.
Excursion to an inimitable typewriter emporium and book shop.
