Bookbinding

Gathering at 10am, then once we’re settled into our workshop, paper folding will begin.

Through the meditative process of dividing a sheet into sections, marking, pricking and sewing, you’ll bind a practice structure this morning. This book will have pockets and inserts to fill and customize.

Our chef will deliver soup and baking to fuel the making.

After lunch, an afternoon visit to a specialist stationery company for an exclusive ink-sampling extravaganza and a survey of Edinburgh’s paper past.

Printing

Meet at the studio for a 9:30 start! A full morning of learning how to use a tabletop Adana printing press. Prepare a simple printing project by setting a line of your writing, letter by letter, space by space. Once it has registered to print consistently, you’ll make a short run of prints.
